The Rabbit Proof Fence - Blog Post #2-Hisham

Dear The Australian Government,

You people that invaded parts of Australia should feel terrible because you destroyed lives of many, and took them away from their families, when they were clueless enough to think that that is what they were craving for. You people should be disgusted because you have nearly made one whole race extinct because of what! Just because they were half white, and half black, you could not let those races mix. What is this nonsense for, you could have let the people of Australia live in peace, but you could not, you had to make their lives extremely sad,depressing, and hard to go through with.

Rabbit Proof Fence-Hisham

In my opinion, Molly is definitely a hero in the movie up to this point. I feel this way because she has taken her sisters out of danger and is trying to take them back to their hometown, in where they would meet their mother again. Ever since the children had been taken away from their mother, and town, Molly has been trying to find ways to get back. Eventually she saw her chance coming when there was a huge thunderstorm, and they could get away without the guards seeing their footprints. This is why I think Molly is a hero to her family.

Colonization and The First Australians-Hisham

How did the ethnocentricity of the British and the First Australians cause conflict between the two groups?

The British were quite full of themselves and they "knew" that they were better than the Aboriginals without even confronting them. This eventually caused conflict because the British had kidnapped Bennelong, just to teach him the right way to live. After this, the British expected them to be welcome by the natives, yet they were not. One member of the Aboriginal tribe, Pemulwuy, had thought that this was a very rude act that had been committed by the British, and so he speared McIntyre. After this, the British knew that the relationships between the two groups was not very close and safe. The Australians however did not think high of themselves, and they decided to start a war, and they did, but lost. A man the British called Saturday had to come out and declare peace, and surrender to the British.

Julius Caesar Solo/Duet Acting

Act IV Scene III (Lines 1-120)

Context: The context of this passage is that Brutus and Cassius' relationship is falling apart. The war is not very pleasant and when Brutus needed some money for the war, but when Cassius sent it, Brutus never received it.

CASSIUS

That you have wrong'd me doth appear in this:
You have condemn'd and noted Lucius Pella
For taking bribes here of the Sardians;
Wherein my letters, praying on his side,
Because I knew the man, were slighted off.

BRUTUS

You wronged yourself to write in such a case.

CASSIUS

In such a time as this it is not meet
That every nice offence should bear his comment.

BRUTUS

Let me tell you, Cassius, you yourself
Are much condemn'd to have an itching palm;
To sell and mart your offices for gold
To undeservers.

CASSIUS

I an itching palm!
You know that you are Brutus that speak this,
Or, by the gods, this speech were else your last.

BRUTUS

The name of Cassius honours this corruption,
And chastisement doth therefore hide his head.

CASSIUS

Chastisement!

BRUTUS

Remember March, the ides of March remember:
Did not great Julius bleed for justice' sake?
What villain touch'd his body, that did stab,
And not for justice? What, shall one of us
That struck the foremost man of all this world
But for supporting robbers, shall we now
Contaminate our fingers with base bribes,
And sell the mighty space of our large honours
For so much trash as may be grasped thus?
I had rather be a dog, and bay the moon,
Than such a Roman.

CASSIUS

Brutus, bay not me;
I'll not endure it: you forget yourself,
To hedge me in; I am a soldier, I,
Older in practise, abler than yourself
To make conditions.

BRUTUS

Go to; you are not, Cassius.

CASSIUS

I am.

BRUTUS

I say you are not.

CASSIUS

Urge me no more, I shall forget myself;
Have mind upon your health, tempt me no further.

BRUTUS

Away, slight man!

CASSIUS

Is't possible?

BRUTUS

Hear me, for I will speak.
Must I give way and room to your rash choler?
Shall I be frighted when a madman stares?

CASSIUS

O ye gods, ye gods! must I endure all this?

BRUTUS

All this! ay, more: fret till your proud heart break;
Go show your slaves how choleric you are,
And make your bondmen tremble. Must I budge?
Must I observe you? must I stand and crouch
Under your testy humour? By the gods
You shall digest the venom of your spleen,
Though it do split you; for, from this day forth,
I'll use you for my mirth, yea, for my laughter,
When you are waspish.

CASSIUS

Is it come to this?

Context : The context of this passage is that Brutus and Cassius are having an argument because Brutus needed money, and Cassius had apparently sent him, but he had not received it. He thought that Cassius had gotten the money in a dishonorable way.

Why we chose this passage: We liked the way that the characters were characterized, because it shows that Brutus is not always as calm as he is shown as but can also lose his temper, this also shows that Cassius hasn't changed since the beginning of the play.

Who You Are! By: Hisham Saadat

It has been proven that the way I learn best, is by not having any distractions around me. I also work very well in groups because one of my strengths are communicating with people. I am not in my zone, when people don't distract me and when I am in a quiet environment. I feel that I can concentrate much better when I am in a quiet environment and that I have the ability to excel, where as sometimes I get easily distracted and cannot focus.

I need to know that because I am a gestalt learner, I should also try and work more on the logic side, because I want to improve that as well and not only be a gestalt learner. If I am both, then I feel that I would be a smarter, and more well rounded person.

The strategies that would help me are using motions and seeing things instead of just being told what to do, because I am a kinesthetic learner and find it much easier to actually see and learn, than just take notes, and not understand the topic or subject. I would also like it if I was shown visually things more than just talks.

I need to concentrate more when I am in class and focus on not getting distracted even though I do sometimes. I need a quiet environment to work in, and need teachers to understand that if for any reason I am distracted in a noisy environment, it is because of who I am.
